EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Personal Assistant/Caregiver to 29yr old adult male with Special Needs in Santa Rosa, CA 

Pay Rate: $25 per hour to start

Start Date: 8/1/25

Weekly Hours: Tue/Thurs/Sat/Sun from 8:30am to 2pm (days are negotiable)

ABOUT THE CLIENT:

 

We are looking for an attendant for our adult son. M. is a sweet guy who recently moved to Sonoma County from Texas.  He's a very social guy, and although he has a limited vocabulary, he is very communicative. He enjoys listening to  music, long walks, reading, outdoor fun, trying new foods and daily outings.  His attendants help him live his best life by helping him access community activities and helping him with daily self care. His current attendants and I provide training and are happy to answer questions. The job is at our house, where he lives with his family and roommate/attendant. The family and staff get along well and the work environment is relaxed and casual. Many former attendants have remained family friends after they change jobs. Please consider joining the team!

DUTIES: 

 

In search of an Employee to support M. to support with the following:  

  • Companionship 

  • Support with meal prep and feeding

  • Support with dressing 

  • Support with transfers, toileting, teeth brushing, and bath/shower

  • Transportation to activities

  • Be aware of safety at all times

  • Support and encourage the development of M.’s independence!

EMPLOYEE SKILLS/BACKGROUND:

Experience working with adults with special needs is preferred. Please have your own car and a valid driver’s license, if possible. 

ABOUT THE HIRING PROCESS:

You will be hired through an agency (It is not a Respite or IHSS agency). The agency is a 3rd party Financial Management Service that pays for services for individuals with disabilities. 

It is not difficult to complete the hiring paperwork and is similar to being hired at any other caregiver type job (ie. Filling out a W4, background check etc..). You will need to complete a fingerprint Live Scan to be hired. There are benefits such as accrual of sick time and overtime rates. 

You will be paid for your time in completing these extra steps to be hired, once officially hired. 

You will be paid bi-weekly. You will have the option to be paid via direct deposit or check in the mail.
